How It Works
Magvion 400 mg tablets are used as an antacid and prescribed for patients with magnesium levels less than 1.7 mg/dL. Most of the medication is retained inside your gastrointestinal tract, as the absorption rate is poor, while the rest works by pulling excess fluids inside your intestines, making stools softer.
Dosage & How to Use
- ✦ Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water, taken during or just after a meal. Do not break it.
- ✦ Two hours of separation from other oral prescription medicines prevents interaction.
- ✦ Routine serum magnesium blood tests remain essential during prolonged therapy.
- ✦ For constipation the course stays short, and a doctor should be the one to extend it beyond a few days.
Side Effects
- ✦ Loose stools show up first for most people, and the dose is the usual reason.
- ✦ Abdominal cramping appears within the first week, occasionally accompanied by nausea.
- ✦ In patients with impaired kidney function, magnesium accumulates in the blood, causing toxicity.
- ✦ Persistent diarrhoea with a dry mouth and dark urine calls for your doctor’s attention.
Storage
- ✦ Storage runs below 25°C, with the strip kept out of direct light.
- ✦ Sealed foil protects against moisture, so leave the strip intact until the dose is due.
- ✦ Freezing damages tablets. So, keep them away from freezing temperatures.
- ✦ Out of reach of children and away from the bathroom shelf where humidity runs high.
